Many pet parents have success offering it as a dry treat first, crumbling it over their cat's current food as a topper, or adding a splash of water to create a softer texture. Some also use unsalted bone broth or goat's milk to make the transition more enticing.

It actually sounds like Sam’s reaction was less about disliking the food itself and more about being very particular about texture, presentation, and changes in routine — especially since you mentioned he initially seemed enthusiastic and also had a very similar response to another freeze-dried raw food. Some cats are incredibly specific about how they want their food served from one day to the next (as frustrating as that can be!).
